Sandra Gonzalez-Mora, M.Ed., award-winning author and publisher, was born in Mexico City. She immigrated with her family to Los Angeles when she was 4 years old. Her expertise in children’s books comes from her 19-year career in early childhood education where she used picture books to help parents and preschool teachers prepare young children to succeed in kindergarten.

Sandra is an active advocate of culture, language and family literacy. What began as a graduate school research project evolved to her writing bilingual children's books with her son and daughter. As co-founder of Skillful & Soulful Press with her husband, Reynaldo Mora, their first book, Mommy, Tell Me Why I Am Radiant / Mami, ¿dime por qué soy radiante? received two International Latino Book Awards.

Their family's mission is to increase the number of bilingual children's books by Latinx authors that help introduce children to a sophisticated vocabulary because this helps children be stronger readers.

Sandra was the featured author at the City of El Monte Fiesta of Books in 2018 and presented at the La Cosecha Dual Language Conference in Santa Fe, NM in 2019. Sandra is a 2021 grantee of the national initiative, Ford Driving Dreams Latina Entrepreneur Grant, funded by Ford Motor Company.

Sandra’s favorite word is serendipity simply because of how fun it is to say. She lives by the words of her favorite quote by Muhammad Ali, “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth”.

She has an affinity for dancing anywhere, foreign travel lures her, and walking labyrinths calms her.
